At 45, Kate Moss Still Rocks a Slip Dress Like No Other

There are a few key words that will always be associated with Kate Moss: icon, supermodel, waif, and rebel, among others. 

There’s also one item of clothing in particular that has become synonymous with Moss’s inimitable style over the years: the slip dress.

When she first made her mark on the modeling scene in the early ’90s, it was rare to see her out at industry events and after-show parties in anything but a slinky, lingerie-inspired look, her hair either perfectly messy or tied up in a ponytail with little to no makeup. She wore ivory slip skirts paired with crewneck sweaters, made red carpet appearances in head-turning sheer lace dresses, and often chose to don silk slips in metallic shades or hues of deep crimson or pink. Whatever way she did it, Moss never failed to make the tiny, unassuming slip dress seem delightfully bold.

As she celebrates her 45th birthday, it’s easy to picture her mulling over a lineup of chic party slips to wear for the celebration. Because even in her 40s, Moss still pulls off the look with a power and presence that is all her own.
